Issue At Home
- Students living in high poverty areas are likely to experience trauma within their households and/or their neighborhoods.
- Students living in high poverty areas has less access to necessary resources at home to complete homework, study or engage in educational activities.
- Many families lack access to technology and even high speed wifi.
- There are parents who are working long hours or working multiple jobs, they do not have enough time to help their children with their homework.
- Majority of the homes in high poverty areas are single parent homes
Issue At School
- Students in high poverty schools have less experienced instructors, less access to high level science, math, and advanced placement courses
- Funding schools is based on property taxes; property taxes are often much lower in high poverty areas, schools in those areas receive much less
- Back in 1985, there was a law passed called the Quality Basic Education. QBE was set in stone to understand and know how much to give out to schools for them to proceed with the school years education. QBE was passed back in 1985, since then, lawmakers have not gone back to tweak QBE to fit with 2023
- Schools in higher-income towns have easy access to guidance counselors, school psychologists, personal laptops, and up-to-date textbooks (in lower-income they don’t)
- Georgia has one of the highest rates of students who live in poverty. This state is one of the six states who does not give extra funding to schools to help students in high poverty areas.

Student Development

Community Care
We envision our elite students engaging in meaningful volunteer efforts within the very neighborhoods they call home. This initiative embodies our commitment to not only provide support but also to cultivate a sense of responsibility and community service among our students.By participating in volunteer activities, our students will have the opportunity to make a direct and positive impact on the lives of those in their communities. This hands-on approach to giving back aligns with our mission of fostering a spirit of empathy, cooperation, and shared responsibility.
